Kyle Confehr is an ambidextrous artist and designer based in Philadelphia, PA. His work blurs the lines between art and graffiti by weaving nostalgia, humor, and personal experience into ornate pieces. Much like the 1980s pop artist, Keith Haring, Confehr has developed a lexicon of visual symbols—buildings, faces, diamonds, skulls, and everyday objects—that he draws from for his work. Using paint markers or aerosol spray paints, he creates large-scale murals full of these symbols that are fluidly connected by line and color. Confehr creates his murals in free hand, without a set plan or outcome, funneling his thoughts and experiences into a stream of consciousness. His process, therefore, is the product.

At the Michener, he created a fully immersive environment, layering artworks over custom murals that can be further activated by an augmented reality experience visitors can access on their smartphones.

Confehr’s work can be seen in the Philadelphia area at the Philadelphia International Airport, The Fillmore Philadelphia, and restaurants like Neighborhood Ramen and honeygrow.

Kyle Confehr: Process is the Product is made possible by a gift from the Daniel and Nanna Stern Family Foundation.

The exhibition program in the Bette and Nelson Pfundt Gallery is presented by Vivian Banta and Robert Field.
